Mike and George talk about the recent spike in early retirements in the NFL and what that means for the future of the league, then debate who has the brighter future, Johnny Manziel or RGIII? Mike reflects on his past love for all that was “Johnny Football” and actually being impressed with him ON THE FIELD while George defends Robert Griffin III. Brandon even provides his thoughts on Cam Newton’s polarizing year. From the NFL to the NBA, the episode closes with a discussion on the lackluster NBA trade deadline. Pittsburgh Podcast Network announces the first of new shows coming in 2016! “The Howitzer and Buzz-saw Show” coming Monday, February 22, 2016.
Pittsburgh, PA (February 12, 2016) – “The Howitzer and Buzz-saw Show,” an online sports radio talk show that began in 2011, is expanding its brand and reach by joining the Pittsburgh Podcast Network. George “The Howitzer” Gerbo and Mike “The Buzz-saw” Asti analyze the world of sports through the eyes of the quintessential sports fan: passionately, intelligently, and without reservation.
George Gerbo is a 2009 alumnus of West Virginia University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. George was responsible for the production and execution of over 100 sports broadcasts annually and covered West Virginia athletics providing three years of play-by-play for WVU baseball, women’s basketball, and hockey broadcasts. In 2009, his colleagues voted George as U92’s “Sports Broadcaster of the Year.”
Mike Asti has spent many years in several aspects of multi-media journalism during his career. He began at West Virginia University’s college radio station as host of the station’s premiere sports talk show, The Sportspage. Professionally, Mike has maintained a position as a member of the Champs Sports Network covering Western Pennsylvania high school athletics. He currently is the lead host on the radio side of the credentialed PensInitiative.com and PittsburghSportsInitiative.com. Mike regularly contributes to distinguished media outlets including WPXI-TV (reporter) and TribLive Radio (co-host/analyst). Mike J. Asti’s brash attitude, witty sarcasm, immense knowledge, and charismatic arrogance (yes, that exists) complete a unique style.
On “The Howitzer and Buzz-saw Show,” George is the optimistic “face” to his co-host Mike’s “heel,” trying his best to contain the Buzz-saw while also offering pointed questions that engender lively debate and deliver his own unique takes on the world of sports.
